It’s taken over from my Tele as my go to 6 string. P90s and a Bigsby - nice 1 Quote

grenadillabama Posted September 18, 2020 Posted September 18, 2020 I got this Fender Malibu Player to maybe use in a gig . It reminds me of surfing and now I need to learn surfing as well as a single act. Surfing might be more reasonable though ! 1 Quote
meterman Posted September 18, 2020 Posted September 18, 2020 I've been recording with my Danelectro a fair bit lately, I love how a cheap instrument can sometimes just be the best one you have. Here's a clip of me and it doing "Funky Dollar Bill" by Funkadelic. My facial expression of utter struggle is real, I'm a percussion player originally. Plus the obligatory psychedelic living room pic: "Piper At The Gates Of Danelectro" haha... 563142DC-BB18-4DE4-A49F-AF573CC92BEB.MOV 1 Quote

I used to have a 1970s Fender Palomino acoustic with the same Strat style headstock. But mine was only a natural finish, and that Malibu is a stunner 😎 Quote

dmccombe7 Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 If i had gone down the guitar route it would have been one of these. Gibson Les Paul Custom as used by Peter Frampton. Love the shape, the sound and combined with a Marshall stack there's nothing else quite like it for rock. 1 Quote
Hobbayne Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 I bought this Harley Benton Tele early in the year for £77. They really are excellent value for the money! 3 Quote
Woodinblack Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 I have too many guitars as I don't play them often. As a result I completely ignored a spam this morning with a squier paranormal cyclone. Not interested at all, nope, not even slightly. 1 Quote

NancyJohnson Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 It's funny looking at the Telecasters on here. never felt any affinity for them (or Fender period); I was trying to work out why and I think it comes down to something a friend of mine said when I was about 15, it went something along the lines of, 'They look like toys, like those Top Twenty guitars in Woolworths.' Interestingly, friend went on to have a lengthy career in music, played with Sting, Numan, Tom Jones, Art Of Noise, was involved in the X-Factor/Fame Academy thing...never saw him playing a Telecaster. mcnach Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 I didn't care for Telecasters. Then, I grew up and saw the light They do look a bit like something assembled in technology class at highschool but I love them. 1 Quote
BCH Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 The Guardian guitar This is a guitar I have had for years as wall art; never played, it's a custom Leverty guitar, the design and artwork is by Jim Fogarty, who told me he worked on this (on & of) for over 4 years, (the grandchildren love it). Can post some build pic's if there is interest! 4 Quote
ezbass Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 So many nice guitars, so few of them on GuitarChat ☹️. Quote

Mate from my last band built his own Telecaster from genuine Fender parts supplied by his son who is Manager in a large Music shop. He did the paint job himself. Cadillac red with maple neck. Until i saw and heard it i was never a Tele fan either but his was simply a cracking job. He will never sell it. Even with the discounted parts it still cost a lot of money.to put together. Can't find any pics tho. 1 Quote
Woodinblack Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 Never was a fan of telecasters. Had a couple but never won me over. Some people sound great on them, just not for me Quote
Bigguy2017 Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 I was the same about Telecasters for decades... nasty twangy, shrill, uncomfortable things... Then a few years ago I got it... USE THE TONE CONTROL. Now I love them. So simple, they just work and let you concentrate on PLAYING. And single coils really cut when pushed into dirt. They are now my fave guitars. 4 1 Quote

Nibody Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 My mate has a nice collection of guitars (he cant play very well so its just a collection) couple of Jacksons, Dave Murray sig Strat, Couple of MiM Strats and a MIM tele. Gretsch Streamliner. Vintage V100AFD, Brian May Red Special.. out of them all if I could pinch one have to say it's his Gretsch. Love that thing. Quote
Beer of the Bass Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 I feel like tele bridge pickups are one of those things that can be kind of obnoxious playing by yourself at home, but often exactly right in a band context. A lot of my favourite instrument sounds have this property... Quote
