Just been looking through the Marketplace and there seems to be a few Telecasters and/or parts thereof available suggesting Teles have a following. I have a Tele with Bigsby which I don't use but love the look of.... So what is the favoured skinny stringed weapon of choice amongst Bassists? I'm down to just two guitars now. A Stratocaster with a fat humbucker at the bridge and Floyd Rose that I've owned since 1996 from new, and a cheap but lovely SX Les Paul style with P90 pickups. I should have kept the Telecaster... I had a Japanese E-series Squier that was covered in dings but played and sounded fantastic. I sold it in 2008 together with most of my equipment when I needed to downsize quickly (I was going to move to Canada, but then didn't). I regretted it ever since. I still want a Tele but I haven't yet found one that appeals enough at the right price (I don't play guitar as much these days, and when I do it's the strat, so I don't want to spend 1K on a Tele now). mikel
Gibson SG with P90 pups is my all time favourite. I currently have a Squier Telecaster that I bought in 1997. With both pups selected it has a great usable tone and a nice low action.
BigRedX
I'm also down to just two guitars, and unsurprisingly they are unconventional ones. Gus G1 Vibrato: FretKing Esprit V Custom: Both were custom made for me over 20 years ago now! The FretKing is an Eggle rather than a Wilkinson version from the days when they were made in a workshop behind Musical Exchanges in Birmingham.
fretmeister
I've got a Strat with a variety of fully assembled scratchplates that have a quick swap plug and socket system so I don't have to solder anything when swapping them. 1: Lollar Blackface single coils 2: Dimarzio Injectors for neck and bridge and an Area 67 in the middle (stacked buckers, high output noiseless) 3: SD Pearly Gates at the bridge and a Dimarzio Chopper at the neck And I've got an ancient and really battered first run Epiphone Zakk Wylde Les Paul. From when they had passive EMG Hi-Z pickups - which I've replaced with a real ZW set. I wasn't going to get one, but the neck profile is the best I've ever found on any guitar ever. Unfortunately Gibson / Epiphone only have that neck profile on the ZW models and not on any other. At some point I might get another one that is in good condition and get it repainted to be a bit more subtle!
Doctor J
A lot of my most recent gigs have been on guitar, sadly. I have Eggle TI Legend - their short lived Iommi model based on the Berlin Bacchus Empire - twin humbuckers, Floyd, superstrat heaven Bacchus G Player - very tasty strat Bacchus old strat replica - can’t remember the model but a really nice vintage strat replica Hamer Centaura - another really nice superstrat, this one HSS Bacchus Duke Master - Dual P90 oil finished LP Tokai ES130 - MIJ 335 style Steinberger GR4 - Newburgh era plus a couple of Warmoth-necked, reverse headstock strat home-builds tuned down to B. One is SSS and one has just a single humbucker.
NickD
Due to a shortage of guitarists that are as good as they think they are, I'm having to do all the guitar on our current (obviously suspended) recording. I have a lovely 7 string Ibanez that I discovered I don't really need, which will be getting sold when this is all over, but for 90% of the tracks so far I've use my beautiful (in my eyes) 1979 Westbury Standard. For the softest stuff I've used the studio's Aerodyne Strat, which is really nice, and definitely something I'd like to look at down the line.

eude
As I'm sure most of you could predict, being obsessed with ACG basses, the only guitars I own are from the same source. These are both "pre-Reiver", ACG's proper guitar brand, hence the ACG branding. I acquired an ACG Skelf Prototype from Alan at ACG a several years back, which is magnificent, really solid, as beautifully made as all his basses. It's a solid beast, with a sycamore body with a maple cap finished in 'Nessie green burst', maple/wenge neck and rosewood board. Here's a too many pics, but keep reading, I've got something REALLY special to follow... OK, so this one is an ACG Tchib and it's amazing, a real super strat. Super light, and super fast playing, swamp ash body with exquisite quilted maple top, flamed maple/wenge neck with a wenge fingerboard, and the whole thing finished in a rich rich purple. I love the Skelf guitar, and it's perfect for a 'workman like' guitarist like myself, but I had always longed for something a little bit lighter and faster. The Tchib is it! I think of the Skelf like a bit of a Les Paul/SG type chugger and the Tchib like a Jackson or ESP type beast. As amazing as these guitars are, it doesn't stop me coveting some of Alan's newer creations though... Apologies for the number of pictures, but hopefully if you got this far down the post you enjoyed them. Cheers, Eude
bassbiscuits
I’ve spent the last 17 years playing the same cedar-topped 2002 Crafter GE-7 electro acoustic. We’ve done hundreds of gigs together over the years. I’ve got a little mahogany Tanglewood travel guitar as my spare. I’ve had lots of electric guitars over the years but currently just down to my 1995 MIJ Fender Strat. It’s recently had a refret and currently has a set of Alexander Pribora Traditional pickups. I’ve sold a lot of what I don’t need over the years including an E series MIJ 57 reissue Strat, a Gibson SG Special, a Gibson SG Classic, an Epiphone Casino Blak and Blu, a Bernie Marsden PRS Se and an American series HSS Strat. Here’s the Crafter and Strat anyway.

Monkey Steve
I used to play guitar in a band, so all but one of these electrics have been gigged: 2004 Les Paul Standard - 60's neck, root beer finish on flamed top, one of the earliest runs with Burstbuckers Pros, and one of the last years before weight relief made them too light for my taste 2001 (I think) Les Paul Standard Raw Power - 50's neck, EMGs replaced by Burstbuckers. Quite fancy putting a Bigsby on this one. Also massively heavy - don't know about the weight relief, but certainly a very dense bit of mahogany 2005 Les Paul DC Special - P90's slim neck, gorgeous - my favourite sounding guitar...now looks like a teenager's first guitar due to the over application of stickers... 2000 Fender Telecaster USA Traditional - dirt cheap limited run that came with USA neck and body & (cheap end) Japanese hardware, pickups replaced with Lindy Fralins, new scratchplate, probably my favourite neck 7 string Gibson Explorer - I really wanted a 7 string after playing a mate's Ibanez, and these were cheap because they'ws been newly discontinued as nobody bought them. Been playing it a lot during lockdown, to get more used to the low B...not sure I like the EMGs, and Bare Knuckle does a 7 string P90, but I'm extremely unlikely to play it outside of my front room so there's no hurry The guitar I play most is my Lowden O22c acoustic

I've owned a few IC's of different years, a 1978 IC200, a 1980 IC50, a mid 90's IC300. Along with a few Ibanez Artist's from the late 70's. I've also owned a few Tokai Love Rock's (Les Paul clones). The best was a '99 MIJ LS70F. Love it. I had a reverse iceman body made for my RGIB6 baritone, black with a whit scratchplate, must get some pics taken. adamg67
I think a Baritone counts. 28" scale Ibanez RGIB6 with a custom made reverse Iceman ("Fireman") body. Feels nicer than a standard guitar to my bass players hands.
