Considering buying one for that price, not expecting to be blown away by it but wouldn't mind having a freltess to mess around on.

I would think you'd need to set it up properly (prbably include cutting the nut a bit deeper to get a nice low mwaaaah-y action - but it might be fine. If its great let me know Shame they dont do a J version for that price....
joe_bass
Hmm yeah would expect to have to give it a set up, hopefully nothing too drastic though. I'll check my finances, 60 odd quid shouldn't be too much of a stretch right now. Edited February 24, 2009 by joe_bass
mathewsanchez
I played a white one of these a while back and despite being fretless it didn't sound fretless (?) and the fret lines were unusually thick. It didn't give that lovely 'mwwahh' sound I get from my fretless status. But I guess at £65 it would just be a muck about bass anyway. Turns out the bank balance doesn't quite permit right now anyway, got a lot of stuff coming up, maybe in 2 or 3 months!

hubrad
It's all the eternal balance.. buy summat dead cheap then mess with it for ages to get it to work better. At that price you can tinker with it while risking very little.. learn to shoot the fingerboard assuming it's a bit on the rough side, maybe borrow a router and fit a J pickup near the bridge. Or spend a bit more on something nicer! Fretless is brilliant!
