OldGit
Hi My Randall amp head has binding posts for speaker outs as well as jacks. I need to use the binding posts to connectthe cables but I don't know which way round they go. Is it red or black to tip of the speaker jackplug? is there a "standard way" of doing this? Anyone know? The manual doesn't say and there's nothing on the box itself. or I could borrow a couple of jackplugs from another lead ..... escholl
black is usually the ground and will connect to the sleeve of a jack plug. red will connect to the tip. provided you keep it consistent for all the connections to that amp, and aren't using any other amps, it doesn't really matter which way you do it. Hamster
Yes, red is always regarded as the 'hot' wire which carries the signal.
OldGit
Ta I didn't want to make the speakers work in reverse polarity or whatever.
