I've done quite a few gigs in a band that uses 2 towers and 4 bass bins as a PA.

Brilliantly portable and for it's size, it's a superb piece of kit.

I think the way it deals with bass is to emphasises certain frequencies. Loads of clever folk on this forum can explain the science, but it felt like it boosts that certain "bass drum kick in your stomach" type of low mid. I found that this is quite a specific frequency that on my bass coinsides with the lowest B and C. Literally it makes these notes way louder than the rest of the bass: E, F, G, A, BOOM, BOOM, D, E.

I tailor my playing with this in mind - careful eq at first, and put those notes up the octave, or deliberately play them softer in a ballad.

In short - you can't beat it for weight, size and setup. I would try it very carefully before buying, and am sure at that price there are lots of bass-specific alternatives.

I 've used one several times at The Avon Beach Cafe, Mudeford, nr Christchurch (on upright, with a blues trio). The venue have 2 (well, actually the earlier model with the dish-shaped base). I was really pleased with the sound, which was excellent, and seriously thought about buying one, but just can't afford it right now. Definitely on the wish list, tho'.

I was going to embed some video of us playing there, but the sound quality doesn't do the bose justice at all. If you're interested check out:

I like the idea of having something at ear level, I've been experimenting with a small pa speaker on a tripod behind me, in addition to a cab on the floor, works well but it's extra gear to set up.
It's sometimes difficult to hear the upper registar when the drums & piano go up in volume.

I've mounted a 10" Wizzy on a modified PA tripod so it plays at ear level. This is very useful when playing at low volumes so you can hear what you're playing clearly. It also kills any feedback that may be present. Used in conjuction with a Clarus this is as good (even better) as any PA, IMO.

I'm expecting a wizzy 10 sometime next week.
I'll look into elevating it, if I like the sound.
