Hi there!

I have a Status Kingbass Artist that I love to death, but recently she's been cutting out and making a fuzz sound when you first plug her in, continues randomly after that.

I though although I had replaced the batteries a week ago it could be them, so I've replaced them again, but STILL she is doing it ;)

I'm gutted as I'm playing a functions gig Sat and was hoping to use her, but I don't know whether it's something very serious or not so don't want to risk it.

Does anyone know what it could be that's causing this? I live in Brighton so the local GAK is a stroll down the road.....but do I really want to trust them with this bass?

Any advice would be appreciated! (Expect MB1 or Outtoplayjazz :P)

Cheers!

Would be a beginner's error but one I make all the time :P

I have yes, my spector has no problem through the same set up.......

Sounds like you either have a loose wire on the bass somewhere or there's a blown capacitor on the preamp. Take the control cover plate off the back & just see if anything's not attached properly. Otherwise, you need Rob Green at Status. He's the only one who can sort those preamps properly.

The only problem I have ever had with my Status Basses was a bad earth on the jack socket, which caused intermittent cutting out.
(Easy fix).

I'd call Rob Green if I were you.
