Frusty Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 I want a P bass, but would like one on a budget; with P copies in abundance from 70's JapCrap to modern day copies, I'd be interested in hearing everyone's opinion. So what are the best non-Fender P basses you've played? Quote

noelk27 Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Copy or clone? Gary Levinson Blade - highly underrated. Pity Levinson only do J models these days. Quote
xgsjx Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Early '80s Vox bass. But then again, it's the only P copy that I've had & it weighs about 3 ton. Quote
robert43 Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 SX why because I have never owned any other P bass Quote
OldGit Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 (edited)
SX why because I have never owned any other P bass
+1 The Rondo Music SX P bass I had was really good (as were the jazzes from the same source), especially with a Gotoh 203 bridge added. A bargain at $99 plus postage duty etc from the US - About £150 all in. http://www.rondomusic.com/bassguitars4.html I like the Jim Deacon 62 P bass. http://jimdeacon.co.uk/Products/Basses/FPB62.html Usually around £120 from high street music shops. It has a "nicer" headstock shape than the SX's ... The Squier's are worth trying too. What's your budget? Edited February 28, 2009 by OldGit Quote
