Distortion is it amp or cab?

Hi,  I haven't played live for about a year and subsequently my gear has not been used.

I decided to power up my GK 400 RB amp and GK 2 X 12 Neo cab the other day and I

noticed I was getting distortion on the end of a sustained note.  The amp and cab sound perfect till

you let the note ring you get this distorted effect on the tail end of the sustain, more noticeable on lower end.

I used to have a back up amp and cab that I could try either of these  to determine whether it was amp or speaker

problem  but I got rid of them when I finished live playing.   Any ideas Amp or Cab problem.

Does your bass have an active circuit with a battery? That’d be the first thing I’d check

Hi Good thinking,  Yes bass had an active circuit but I seem to remember I tried it with a passive bass also and same thing happened but will look more into that.

I had a similar issue recently and it turned out to be dirty contacts on the input jack. I sprayed the plug with switch cleaner, pushed it in and rotated/wiggled it a bit (oooer, missus) and it solved the problem.
