Bass Fumbler
Sad news about the passing of Dave Greenfield if The Stranglers. I have tickets for the last tour in October but I can’t see it happening. they have been a large part of my life from the age of 14 and he will leave a big gap in my life.
kusee pee
Very sad. The Stranglers were a major part of my musical upbringing and Dave's influence on their sound was never less than front-and-centre.
Jonse
Was listening to a bit about him on 6 music earlier on. Will be sadly missed.
Lozz196
Rotten news, whilst I was never a major fan I did really like a lot of their material, The Stranglers were one of “my” teenage bands.

madshadows
Very sad news, saw them many, many, many years back at Wembley Stadium along with AC/DC and The Who, loved their first few records, RIP Dave John
T-Bay
I was gutted to see this last night. I love the stranglers and they do not get anything like the recognition they deserve. As a kid their irreverence was striking and spoke to me as a grumpy teenager. This performance from Dutch TV is my favourite of any band anywhere ever. I understand that they wanted to play live but were told they couldn’t so this was their response.
Barking Spiders
Very sad to hear this and he died from covid too. The Stranglers are one of 3 or 4 bands I've stayed with all my music listening life. Other than JJ's bass it was Dave's keyboard playing that largely set them apart from the herd.
petebassist
Always loved DG's keyboards on their Walk On By cover, particularly the beautiful and hypnotic solo.
Roger2611
Very sad news, I am glad I was lucky enough to finally see them in 2017. RIP Dave
MB1
Saw them many times in my youth when they were truly awesome (Hugh Cornwell era) for the No More Heroes/Black and White/The Raven Tours and last time with The Rezillos supporting..... Dave Greenfield was one hell of an important integral innovative irreplaceable part of the Stranglers sound and it sure won’t be the same without him! ”Go Dave!” ....Rest in Peace! dave_bass5
Damn that’s bad news. One of my keyboard influences when i was growing up. I went and got a Wasp synth after seeing Dave play one. Saw them a few times in concert.
4000
Only found this out a short while ago. What a shame. Love the first few Stranglers albums. They were always my favourite of the bands associated with punk.
