Tee Posted March 2, 2009 Share Posted March 2, 2009 Ok so i will do some net research for one, but just in case people out there are in the know and can point me in a good direction. Basically i need a minimum, 4 channel mono mixer/maximum 8 channel, for putting my drum machine (stereo), bass and guitar (POD) through, so that i can monitor it all on headphones. It would be good to have two means of monitoring, ie for two people. So i'm thinking main output plus headphone socket. I was thinking like a little Mackie or the like with a few channel strips, basic eq etc, but it seems they are more expensive than i had anticipated. Any help appreciated. Plenty of good features and it works well, but it seems a little susceptible to noise. By far my biggest complaint is that when plugged in, it's on. It needs to be turned off at the socket to stop the power cord getting quite hot. I did try to change the plug to one of those with built in switches but its sealed. [/quote] I actually use a similar approach when practicing so I can put my GT6, head phones and IPOD backing track on at the same time - all through a small TAPCO mixer. If you want more of a performance mixer, go for the Mackie but it is a little expensive for what you need it for. Smaller Mackie is not smaller prices !! When doing live sound, I occasionally used a submixer. Behr was great value but I found it a little noisy and the EQ less sensitive, the Tapco was a better unit in my opinion with the controls being pretty much the same as the main Mackie desk I use.
