AndyTravis Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 (edited) These crop up only once in a blue moon - so Jumped on it as Iām doing lots of remote recordings for a singer/songwriter who asked if I had a DB... I recorded with my fretless J and it sounded great. But missing a bit of that thud. Was planning on a fretless neck for my 75p, and then before I knew it - offers to buy came in and one person in particular absolutely deserves it (YOB etc)Ā As this was going on - just had a quick look online and found this. ācollection onlyā bah...In Bristol. āhang on @CuzzieĀ is in BristolĀ and we talk regularlyā i thought ...asked the question...GO! Ā Itās a 1991 ish Fender Japan PBAC-100fl. Catchy eh? About to be collected by DPD to arrive in the next few days. Edited May 11, 2020 by AndyTravis 6 Quote

AndyTravis Posted May 9, 2020 Author Posted May 9, 2020 So itās arrived. A little less āexcellent conditionā than the guy stated - but itās cool. Have tweaked it so it plays great. Need to re-foam the p pickup as itās right in the body. Will sort that another day. Currently battling an epic hangover from yesterdayās social distancing VE Day street party. My Neighbour loves gin. So once the beer rations were done...he started showing me the various flavours he has. god knows what time it all ended. All I do know is that weāre both rough. Quote
Cuzzie Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 Bombproof packing worked then! Ā nice work, should clean up on Quote

Matt P Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 I played one of these a little while ago in a shop in Newcastle, they are really very nice, I wss very tempted but was in a 5 string phase so passed (I wish I hadn't!)Ā Ā Quote
AndyTravis Posted May 12, 2020 Author Posted May 12, 2020 There seem to be a few versions there are 3 logo types - TV logo (like a 70ās P) - The Silver foil logo plus the AE logo (like the one Matt just posted) - The silver foil logo with nothing other than Fender on the head. Weirdness...they appeared in the 1991 catalogue and were then gone by the revised 1993 catalogue. There are ones with F logo knobs, and then some with Black dome knobs. Thats before you get into the HM version with the hockey stick/Jackson headstock. The preamp on mine is the Heartfeld one - suggesting 1991 ish. Quote
Grahambythesea Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 One of the basses Iāve always wanted. Donāt like the hockey stick HMT version, but this cool. When youāre fed up with it............. Quote

JazzLobster Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 A beauty! Hopefully the electronics were upgraded cause they weren't great. Also, might want to tie down the battery (if it hasn't been already), and I hope it's intonated right cause I've read its tricky to dial in with that bridge. Quote

I sorted the battery. 3rd 90ās Fender Iāve had the same issue with. Although with a piezo in play it was much more of an urgent issue. The electronics were ok - didnāt feel the need to mess about - there was a little disparity in pickup volumes - had this with a Yamaha BEX4c and Epiphone Zenith too.Ā DidĀ some nice recordings with it. It played really well by the time it left me, intonation was good. It found a new home elsewhere and I know the current owner has had one of these before - heās made up with it. Quote
therealting Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 You really tend to rent basses rather than ownĀ them š 1 Quote
