Status jazz and P bass neck profiles question

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking of getting a Warmoth body and a Status neck to assemble something a bit different.

Can anyone tell me what the back of the neck is like on the Status-Graphite jazz necks?

The reason I ask is that I've had some old Status basses that I loved, then I had a modern one and the neck shape had changed dramatically - the new one was very much a D shape neck that was really quite square and felt like it had 'shoulders' rather than a gentle curve.

Do the Jazz necks have that or are they like an actual jazz bass would be?

thanks.

Can't comment on the Jazz specifically but I do have a Status Precision neck and a new Status 4 string. The precision neck is certainly a lot more 'C' in shape than the standard Status neck. There is a discernible 'flat' area as you come down to the dusty end on the Precision, but it's nowhere near as 'D' in feel as the standard Status.

Had both necks side by side - my P one has gone to @Deedee.

For me anyway, without doubt the Jazz neck is an absolute joy to play, slim and very fast - @fretmeister if I remember correctly have you played some Sandberg’s? I can’t remember if it’s there and or Barefaced we share common ground.
If so It is approaching the MarloweDK skinny fast proportions type thing.

If you like a jazz neck - this will satisfy your need
