Jimothey
My vote goes to no pickguard but thats probably because I'm allergic to tort! 😁 2
PaulThePlug
I'm not from Colchester... As there are no existing scratch plate holes i'd go No Plate and enjoy ya extra 30% free wood... If there were holes it would be clear or black for me... I'm not realy a Tortoise kinda guy... looks muddy messy to my eye... screams 'could do with a good clean' Quite possibly due to me being colour blind and the mix of colours, i may percieve it quite different from others? Pea Turgh
Normally I’d be all like “don’t cover up the wood!”, but seeing it there just looks complete. Very nice.

binky_bass
With the plate. It looks fantastic without it, but with it, it really makes the bass feel complete. To me, basses with the steel control cavity cover but no plate just look odd! I like the tort, but a black one would suit the black blocks well. Why not get a black and a tort one? You can then change it's style for pennies! My vote: with a plate for sure!
Simon.
I'm kind of torn... Normally I would have said no-plate, as the top looks just so sweet. However, the more I look at it without the plate, the bigger and bigger that bell plate starts to look, and in need of the scratchplate the off-set it.
SpondonBassed
I don't like tort. Apart from that they both look fine.
Cosmicrain
Decision made: Matt finally decided to go with the scratch plate, so I screwed it on and did the final setup. His custom made Zoot Funkmeister is now ready. Here a couple of quick shots taken early this morning in the workshop of the finished bass.

I can't add anything, just posting so that fabulous picture appears more than once. Really good decision to go with the pickguard.

Cosmicrain
A very happy Matt Waller popped in to the workshop to collect his new bass. I think he was a very happy man. It was a pleasure to build your bass Matt, regards Mike.
SpondonBassed
Congrats Matt. You can take the mask off though. There is no way your face can upstage that bass! It's a thing of beauty.
