Bassassin Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 I paid five quid for this. I freely admit I was robbed: Jon. Quote
Prosebass Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 (edited) You can't beat inverse snobbery..... Just get some polish on the P/J hybrid and some Hi-Beams it will be fine.... Edited March 7, 2009 by Prosebass Quote
harvey1-8 Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 (edited) I once swapped 4 cans of Fosters for a Precision copy. I don't have it any more though so doesn't really fit into this topic. Amusing story none the less. Edited March 9, 2009 by alexharvay Quote

OldGit Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 (edited) The jam session I go to has a Marlin PJ like that as the beater bass - er well not exactly like that I think that's the custom version - and it's a fine instrument and sounds really good in some hands. Cherish and treasure it Anyway I think this should competition should really be for the "cheapest functional bass" Edited March 7, 2009 by OldGit Quote

Really nice shaped neck on this, when I get a minute or two I'm going to experiment with a bit of fret levelling/crowning & then spray it matt black. RatBass! J. Quote
small_lump_of_green_putty Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 I've only got one bass and its not very good Quote
Gamble Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 2 cases of beer and a ride to the Download festival bought me a fretless Tanglewood from Peted, but long before that I bought an SG bass copy (fully playable) from a guy at work for £15 Quote
The Funk Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Damn, I thought I was in with a chance on this one: Westfield 3/4 size Precision-copy, brand new, £69. Quote

Kiwi Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 the great thing about muntered finishes is you get to a certain point where extra dings actually start making the bass look better... Quote

thisnameistaken Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 I once got a brand new USA Jazz for nothing when our guitarist stole it from the shop he worked in. Turned out it was worth nothing when we got familiar with the build quality, so it was a pretty fair deal. Quote
steve-soar Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 My Squier cost £100 with a £30 gig bag thrown in. Korean, 1995, plays great, sounds great, end of. Quote

neepheid Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 I picked this up for a fiver: Any idea what it is/was? Captain Japcrap? Anyone? Someone made a right arse of putting in block inlays to it so I thought I'd dig that out and make it maple where a marker ought to be. Quote
