Ladders
So, a long time ago I got it in my head to upgrade a couple things on my bass, and I've finally decided I might as well get down to it. It's a passive 4-string with PJ pickups, it's a solidly built and (in my opinion) gorgeous bass, the only things that let it down are the pickups and the bridge, they're not bad, they do the job well enough, but they're only okay. I've managed to find a heavier bridge with the same string spacing and screw locations, so thankfully there'll be no need to drill new holes. As for the pickups, I really like the sound of the Dimarzio Split P, especially when wired in parallel, but I'm stuck on what to do for the bridge J-pickup,. Ideally I'd prefer a split- or dual-coil design to avoid to avoid the problems of lone single-coil pickups, but other than that I'm looking for recommendations for a pickup that will compliment the Split P and/or add some versatility. Or, would I be better off abandoning the Dimarzio and buying some matched PJ set?
