I recently got a very early G&L 2000 with the chrome plate on the front and a conventional head stock.

When I got it, the battery was badly corroded so i bought a a new pp3 connector and soldered it on.

When I use the bass it sounds great but I get an intermittent problem where the bass sounds as if its going through a tremolo unit with a fast volume up and down.

Anyone got any suggestions?

your battery connection if good shouldnt fluctuate

the vibrato thing i think must be related to the preamp....corrosion may have occurred in more than one spot

Hi Is it a 2000e on the headstock, the early front loaders are pretty much the same as the latter ones, is it ok in passive mode ? Ive got a few spares and a spare chip as that may be faulty.

I didnt try it before, it was in a pretty poor state, dirty, rusty strings, hadnt been used for years. I stripped annd cleaned it and found the dodgy battery clip

i will give it a go passive which i havent really done as the tone is so monster active Mahoghany body so its heavy

Yes its a 2000 model e and thank you very much nig for the offer

Im also going to have a check of the wiring see if it all looks ok
