Frellin' Smesh
Hi, I just saw an Empress Compressor Pedal for sale on Ebay for £150. Has anybody here used one, and is it worth buying at that price? I do like clean compression, with metering, no noise, but with a little added "punch" The compressors in my Line 6 HX Effects are nice, but I'm looking for a little more in terms of metering and clarity. Any experience/advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers 😉

His opinion is only one of many. I've also watched youtube videos regarding The Empress Compressor. I was hoping to hear/read opinions of bass-players who may have used the pedal regularly, or even decided to sell it for something they thought was better. itu
OK, fine. My modest opinion is that it is a very good, although not a simple unit. I am using multiband compressing, my choice is Hypergravity. All pots and parameters can be tweaked, which means that the unit is a bit complicated to program. After that it is easy to adjust the settings quickly on stage (like attack and release). Empress is fine unit if you need one sound or have the time to adjust it.
fretmeister
It’s very good. Ran one for years. Only sold it because it took up too much room and had side jacks.
visog
Hmmm, we've never really considered compressors before. What do they do again?
