Stub Mandrel
I'm patiently waiting for a Harley Benton P-bass kit, hopefully in a few weeks... The headstock comes uncut. I was wondering if putting a pre-1957 'telecaster-style' headstock on a later style body would be a style fail? I'm also wondering about putting the 1997 'spikey' headstock:
Lfalex v1.1
Does it have the tuner holes already drilled? If not, the world is your oyster... If it isn't drilled, I'd go for something like the 'Ray headstock, as it's shorter and might give marginally better balance. Or really confused everyone and go 2+2 😄
Stub Mandrel
It's drilled. I definitely don't see MM or G&L shapes in my future... 🤣 Could go for the 'Bite' look

Jean-Luc Pickguard
round the corners but leave it otherwise uncut - then if anyone asks, tell them its an Alleva Coppolo Edited May 27, 2020 by Jean-Luc Pickguard
Stub Mandrel
Perhaps Fleur de Lys and claim it's an Alembic?
CamdenRob
If it’s a P bass kit definitely go for the standard Fender headstock shape... Anything else on a P bass just looks wrong IMO.

skankdelvar
I'd go for the original, meaning the Paul Bigsby headstock that Leo nicked when they were still mates. A bit more swirly and exaggerated and when people say 'That's not a Fender headstock' you can say: 'Well, actually...' then bore them shirtless for half an hour and when they black out from the tedium you can nick their wallets and spend the money on hookers and crystal meth. 1 1

Bigsby nicked it from Epiphone...
Stub Mandrel
Who ripped it of Majestic... (seems to have been quite common on Harp Guitars - two necks one with unfretted sympathetic strings) of the early 20th century)
Stub Mandrel
Or even Martin (1905)...
wateroftyne
It worked for Billy Talbot. 1

That's sorted then, I'm a huge Neil Young fan so by extension I lovb Billy's bass playing! Plus it looks really def! Shame I don't think I'm up to a candy apple red finish! Stub Mandrel
Sod it's I've read up and I might go for Candy Apple Red. Will have to make some sort of spray booth.
Lfalex v1.1
Go for it. If it fails, sand it back and go again!
