I've been going around in circles on this for months. Bought in September last year and pulled back into working condition with application of much sandpaper and oil plus the addition of new (and bloody expensive) tuners, pickguard etc. I've recently added a Fender High Mass Vintage bridge, which adds some serious attack and sustain as well as improving the intonation, and have now bought a Squire TB PUP which I was going to have modified by Andy at Wizard to provide a lower O/P and more sensitivity & mid/treble response than is the case with the original (Andy quoted £45 for the work). Anyway, I guess I'm trying to turn this baby into a Precision which it ain't so I should probably stick with my Precision and let this go to someone who wants some seriously powerful low end. It's a stunning bass to look at and to play. The neck is to die for (if you like big necks that is).

It's main features are:

1. It's loud
2. It's heavy
3. It's bassy

Currently strung with TI Jazz Flats is has great buttery action and vintage Motowny sound/vibe. With rounds and played with a pick it's a great rock bass.

Price-wise I'm looking at around £650 all in, that's including both the original PUP and the TB PUP and the original bridge and the HMV. This represents a little less than it has cost me in total.

Couple of issues:

1. Hairline crack from truss rod bolt to midway between nut and first fret. A common issue with Fenders of the era and not a functional problem. Paul Herman was going to fix it for me but I quite liked it as is. Truss rod works just fine.

2. Body has been contoured along the top front edge, which although making the bass easier to play and easier on the eye (and probably a little lighter), means the pickguard doesn't fit as well as it could on the top horn. This doesn't show to anyone but the player and provides useful storage for picks, condoms, etc.

A great bass and I know I'll regret letting it go, especially after having spent about 6 weeks sanding it! Collection/meet can be arranged (I live in Canterbury but I'm often in London and Milton Keynes on the M1), I'd rather not post but will do at your risk.

Well I'm amazed no-one's chewed my arm off for this! Guess there's a lot of basses for sale out there at present and Tele's do seem to be something of an acquired taste. I'd be happy to sell the new PUP and high mass bridge seperately and thereby drop the price to £550 ono? As ever, I'd also consider good trade offers?
If I don't get anything here soon, I think I'll ebay it ):

Just to clarify, £550 ono gets you

Original body (original finish stripped and now finished with Danish Oil and Warwick wax)
Original neck
Original PUP
Original bridge
Original jack socket and plate
Not sure if pots are original but could be
Non-original tuners (cost £70 a few months back)
Non original pickguard (cost £35 a few months back)

Strung with TI Jazz Flats plus I'll throw in some new EB heavy-ish rounds
