Twigman
What size are the scratchplate screws on Fender basses? I notice Fender don't list them in their parts catalogue but mine need replacing. They've gone rusty!! One of them ( the one by the bridge under the strings) was so rusty I had to cut new slots in it to remove it recently. So what do you guys use to replace these? umcoo
sorry to hijack so quickly...but how did you cut new slots? A couple of screws on my bass need coming out, but the bit has worn down so it's hard work!

A
Carefully in all honesty. I did it with part of a hacksaw blade through the rust!! and then I put A LOT of pressure on a cross head screwdriver to impress the bit on the screwdriver into the rust!!! The screwdriver did not survive screw removal! Anyone used this place: http://www.allparts.uk.com/Allparts-home-c-276.html The parts I'm looking at are out of stock but available in 7-10 days........do they mean that or is it one of those sites where you place an order and maybe they'll send it out one day eventually or maybe not?
