warwickhunt
I was admiring the pics of this P bass when I noted the image of the truss rod adjuster/end of neck... not much Rosewood left after the neck was made true! wateroftyne
There's not, is there? Then again, as the bass is 40 years old, chances are it's developed a slight 'ski-hump'. If so, there will have been more rosewood removed at that end of the neck than the other.
The Bass Doc
When discussing the amount of meat on a fingerboard it sugests that it may have been butchered. A stroll down to see those chaps at Smithfield Market would be adviseable as they may be able to supply a particularly close-grained piece of steak to use as a replacement fingerboard. The only other option I can think of is perhaps a cut of pork but this should only be considered if you wish to achieve a sound similar to say Stu Hamm or Tony Bacon. And remember - keep practising those chops. (coat at the ready)
wateroftyne
I wonder what the neck joint is like? See you a-rind.
The Burpster
It probably has an 1/8" shim under it to get the neck attitude correct....

I have a late 62 Strat that has the same construction.
Telebass
Also, it's patently not pre-CBS as claimed, even out of his own words - CBS took over in January 1965. There's this myth that all L-series instruments are pre-CBS, and it isn't even nearly true.
