4000
The keys solo on Close to the Edge. Also, the one on the live version of Starship Trooper on Yessongs. Several on various Caravan tracks. And pretty much every flute solo ever.😉

Great Eric Burdon documentary on BBC iPlayer if you haven’t seen it. He doesn’t speak too fondly of Alan Price mind......
Bassfinger
And the electric piano solo from the original Zombies conversion of She's Not There. Fits the song beautifully.

Jacka and Rod (Clements, not Stewart 😉) are a couple of my musical heroes. Edited June 13, 2020 by MrCrane

Any of them.

I've got to go to the next Christmas show, I've never seen them, I've played my vinyl Nicely Out Of Tune almost all the way through
chris_b
Hubert Sumlin's guitar solo on Spoonful. Only 6 bars but a perfect solo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0aIjyX7vwI Hubert Sumlin again on Smokestack Lightening. No solo to speak of but 3 minutes of riffing that launched a million bands. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Ri7TcukAJ8

Baxlin
Surprised nobody’s mentioned Procol Harum’s Whiter Shade of Pale. Was it Matthew Fisher playing the Hammond? Not so much a solo though, more throughout the song!
Barking Spiders
Dunno why but I love the recorder solo in this gem at 1.41 from Julian Cope in his slightly barmy phase pre-off his trolley period.
lowdown
Too many to mention, I love solos! Just before landing on Basschat tonight I was listening to 'Magnetic' by Steps Ahead. Michael Brecker's Tenor solo on 'Trains' is fantastic. A great lesson in solo building. He even overdubbed harmonies on the solo. Victor Bailey on Bass put in a great shift as well. Actually, the whole band did. Tenor solo starts at 02:
Graham56
The piano in this (solo from about 1.22), and how it works with everything else.
davepb24
The violin and piano bits in "Vienna" and the synth solo in OMD's "Messages" always been favourites of mine
ezbass
Mark Feltham’s solo @3:16 always raises the hairs on the back of my neck. The drumming by Jeremy Stacey is pretty epic too. Edited June 15, 2020 by ezbass
