Paul C
Hi all I'm mulling over buying a bass with PJ pick ups. I've not got a huge budget but the ones I'm drawn to are the Fender Aerodyne and the G&L SB 2 Tribute. I read both are great basses. So just wondering what the thoughts are of folks out there that have played either/ both. Overall the SB2 seems to more reasonably priced and easier to get hold of at the moment but that's not a deal breaker. Thanks all
Lozz196
The Aerodynes are good basses, nice and light and easy to play necks - Japanese Fenders seem to have great necks for some reason. Personal preference I`d go for a non-export model as they have flush-mounted jack sockets rather than Strat-style ones, and fretboard markers. casapete
I always fancied an Aerodyne, thought they looked great and usually fairly lightweight. I tried the P-bass version and loved it, except for the fact my forearm didn’t feel great resting on the bound body. If it hadn’t been for that I’d have bought it - nice blue finish and great neck. I believe the Jazz Aerodynes have a more contoured body which is more comfortable. Also seem to remember a lot of people who bought the original Aerodynes often replaced the pickups as the standard ones were considered a bit average, although this may have been sorted now? Great basses nevertheless, and usual Japanese high quality.
Paul C
Thanks both for your replies. Good point on the fretboard markers too. Hadn't even noticed that.
