Hi everyone,

I'm after some string recommendations, I tune in D Standard these days and unfortunately Warwick don’t cater for bass players who require a larger gauge than 105-45 which is a shame as they retain their freshness for a good while.

I’ve currently got rotosound roundwound nickels 110-50 but as you know they die and loose their zing as soon as you look at them.

Thanks

D'addario do EXL160BT which are 50, 67, 90, 120. I used them in standard tuning and got on fine with them so they should be ok in D tuning.

They also do a super heavy gauge with the EXL230 strings - 55, 75, 95, 110. Amazon are currently doing these for £18.20

I don't endorse D'addario strings, although that would be nice, but they are all that I use. I gave up trying anything else years ago as I found exactly what I wanted. I normally get 8 or 9 wedding length gigs from them before they begin to go dull - so about 36-40 playing hours

The thing about Newtone is the postage cost. For £6 I could ship something from America... and you have to wait two weeks for them to make the strings.

I'm not sure if you're joking or not?

It's the shape of the core.

I meant what difference does it make to the string itself? Higher tension?
