I’ve been looking into getting a short scale bass made to the specs I want and Maruszczyk seem to be the ones that can do it. Their configurator is very easy to use and looks like I can get what I’m after for around £1500.

I’m getting boring but have a look at Tony Edwards Guitars https://tonyedwardsguitars.co.uk. Tony made me a short-scale to my spec with Babicz bridge and his own hand wound pickups for  around the £1K mark. Now things have moved on price wise but I still think he will be very competitive and you get it to exactly what you want.

Thanks, I’ll contact him and see what he says

I know he was planning to go on holiday for a couple of weeks, so he might still be away. Don’t give up if you don’t get an immediate response.

Love those! I used to have a Wingbass and kinda miss it. These Cali basses look brilliant.

Is... Is that a Boss delay in a huge box with a tap tempo switch added?

Lovely setup, and beautiful basses!

Yes, it’s a modified DD-5 that Steen Skrydstrup made, before he renamed his company to Caveman Audio.

I’ve only recently got the GRBass active cab , which will eventually be used with a pedalboard I’m currently building

I have an Atelier Z short scale jazz I might need to put up for sale at some point, it’s the ZPO-4Jr model (the one with the downsized Precision-ish body before they started using the Mustang shape for the Baby Z). It’s natural ash / maple, 17mm spacing. I bought it brand new, ordered from Japan a few years ago. I’m slightly in two minds about it so might end up holding on to it. It’s such a great little bass but I’ve spent a bunch of money on amp/cab related stuff this year..

I love the look of these! I love my Baby Z, but it lacks the contouring of the ZPO (it's a slab body, there's no tummycut or forearm contour) and mine has a slight tendency to neckdive whereas the ZPO looks like it might balance a lot better. If all else is the same (neck, electronics, pickup positions) the ZPO Jr might be a real winner!

Yeah, it’s basically the Baby Z with a more balanced body, same neck and electronics (as far as I know) which is why I decided to go searching for one back around 2019ish. It was apparently the last one left at their workshop. The quality on these is crazy, it’s a relatively ‘low’ price bass for them compared to their other models but it feels like a boutique bass, I think the only thing that was keeping them from being more expensive is the relatively simple electronics and the lack of fancy woods. There was a 5 string version too, I never managed to get hold of one of those though..

And the fact Atelier Z don't build these themselves. I think they're made by Fujigen. Any Atelier Z with the KTS titanium rods in the neck is not made by them.

There are two of them in the Vintage Revo range: this solid body and a classic design semi (Supreme). Also with a mudbucker but it has a  toaster pickup in the bridge position. I was very interested but noted that the Vintage website doesn’t give the dimensions of the nut. I enquired of a dealer and they measured it as 44mm. That and the 3 point bridge on the Supreme put me off. I prefer the Jazz bass style neck on the Guild Starfire models (and the bridges).

If the above aren’t drawbacks for you, I think these look like great SS basses with a vintage feel and reasonably priced.

Does anyone know what the bridge string spacing is on a Fender Mustang?

And is it the same on all of them?

I'm having such cravings for a JMJ and I've never even been in a room with one.

Fairly sure it`s 19mm, and I`d say same on all Mustangs as my MIJ Mustang with Jazz width neck doesn`t feel any different on the spacing.
