So, it didn’t blow me away on the spot although it was very nice. Can’t get over how nice the top is on these for the money though 👌 I don't know if it's just some trick of the camera lens, but that headstock looks enormous! 2 Quote

[OK not ss] Sires look gorgeous. 4 Quote

It’s actually a bit smaller than a standard Fender headstock IMO but that sort of size, which possibly makes it look disproportionate on an SS. 1 Quote

Possibly, I do think that as it’s narrower than a Fender headstock it makes it appear longer. Although I would say it didn’t look big in real life. But, I will say. One of things that I dislike about Sire as a brand is the headstock, not to my taste at all. Speaking of headstocks, I had a look at one of these online and the stock pictures look completely different to this picture of a second hand one I also came across. The headstock looks huge in the 2nd hand pic! 1 Quote
bremen Posted January 23 Posted January 23 That's a weird optical illusion brought on by the parallel lines. Looks as big as the body till you count the segments of garage door, then it looks about half the length of the body. Very pretty. 1 Quote

Thanks, I must remember to take all of my future photos in front of garage doors so I don’t look so much of a short a**e 😂 2 Quote

Low End Bee Posted Sunday at 16:37 Posted Sunday at 16:37 I used the Wattplower at a rehearsal for the first time last week. Blimey. It’s a good bass. Cut through and sounded better than anything I’ve played before. Those pickups are HOT and there’s loads of great sounds on tap. Super sparkliness is a bonus. 9 Quote
ezbass Posted Sunday at 17:35 Posted Sunday at 17:35 I heard on Planet Rock that @Bassforradio was going to Leamington Spa to look at short scales (I’m assuming Bass Bros). Did you buy one, Darren? Quote

MichaelDean Posted Tuesday at 15:38 Posted Tuesday at 15:38 Fresh from NAMM, it looks like Anderton's have got the Hils headless shortscale on their site. Single humbucker, passive, 5 piece neck, stainless steel frets, comes with a gigbag. Should be very light if the guitars are anything to go by, I think some of those have been around 4lbs. https://www.andertons.co.uk/hils-hnb3-headless-shortscale-bass-satin-ivory/ 7 Quote

BabyBlueSound Posted Wednesday at 12:31 Posted Wednesday at 12:31 (edited) Damn, I think the truss rod in my Talman shortie is messed up. I wanted to give it some additional bow, as the neck seems a bit too straight. And I can turn the nut to the left alright, it's not too loose, it's not too tight, it never felt like it snapped. But nothing happens. I kept adjusting it over the course of 2 days, I am at a full rotation to the left at this point and I do not observe any changes in the neck bow at all. But it does not show the usual characteristics of a broken rod, like it being completely stuck, or just turning around too losely. It feels like it should, but again... NOTHING happens Might need another trip to the luthier... Edited Wednesday at 12:32 by BabyBlueSound grammar 3 Quote
