Happy Jack Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 (edited) I really need to cut down on the space currently occupied Chez Happy by Höfner Heaven. I'm listing a whole bunch of 'em below on the basis that a couple will probably sell and I can then show Mrs. Happy that I'm 'doing my bit'. Regrettably, this makes trades really quite difficult for me. One photo + a brief description for each. Obviously more photos & details are readily available. Every one of these basses has a story attached. Guide prices aren't set in stone - I'm quite prepared to accept more. *********************** Höfner 500/3 semi-acoustic bass (pre-Senator type). 1960 £600 http://tinypic.com/useralbum.php?ua=Oue9rs...dJyUiypWA%3D%3D Now SOLD pending the usual. *********************** Höfner 182/E2 solid bass (Professional type). 1964 £350 http://tinypic.com/useralbum.php?ua=Oue9rs...aNMGRKC2Q%3D%3D Now SOLD pending the usual. *********************** Höfner 185/E2 solid bass (Artist type). 1964/65 £325 http://tinypic.com/useralbum.php?ua=Oue9rs...eYZvmBdag%3D%3D Now SOLD pending the usual. *********************** Höfner 500/6 semi-acoustic (Verithin, bolt-on). 1966-68 £400 http://tinypic.com/useralbum.php?ua=Oue9rs...HK6%2FC5g%3D%3D Now SOLD pending the usual. *********************** Höfner 500/5 semi-acoustic (Active Electronics) 1971-73 £750 http://tinypic.com/useralbum.php?ua=45It2s...pNwFuTmpw%3D%3D *********************** Höfner Icon 500/1 Blacktop Violin hollow-body. 2007 £300 http://tinypic.com/usermedia.php?uo=u9DZx%...IAaWm1jSA%3D%3D *********************** Höfner 500/1 RI-63 Violin hollow-body bass. 2006 £650 http://tinypic.com/usermedia.php?uo=u9DZx%...CiCu43iZA%3D%3D *********************** All these basses are available to inspect and play in Chiswick, London W4. Damn that's purdy. Never seen a violin bass in black before... That would look so good on me, why do I never have £300 lying around to feed impulse purchases. *sigh*
beerdragon Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 th the As you said Happy Jack , there's no doubt some stories there. I had the Pro type a long while ago. good luck with the sale.
Happy Jack Posted March 12, 2009 Author Posted March 12, 2009 Thanks guys. I suppose it's worth reminding people of a certain age (the sort of age when back / shoulder problems get to be an issue) that the hollow-body and semi-acoustic Hofners are astonishingly light. What you spend on this thread can all be recovered in the form of cancelled visits to the chiropractor ...
MB1 Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 MB1. Never! seen so many Hofners all in one place!...ave a Bump!
loweringthetone Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 What a fabulous array of beautiful basses. So many iconic shapes in there. These wont stay for sale long. Good luck ! Colin

Happy Jack Posted March 19, 2009 Author Posted March 19, 2009 At least one solid body is heading this way at the moment, a mid-60's 185/E2. It's not as uber-cool as the two solids I've just sold because it doesn't have the vinyl covering (which I happen to like a lot) but it certainly works well enough. I've also got a dismantled Professional (an early 182/E1, i.e. single pickup) which I might list as a project. I'd get more if I sold it as separate spares, though. And I have a nagging feeling that I have another 182/E2 somewhere. It gets a bit embarassing when you can't actually remember how many Hofners you own ...
