Happy Jack
I can't find a manual for the Vocalist VR. If I want to use it live, do I plug a mic directly into the unit, can I take a feed from the desk, or can I do both? If I take a feed from the desk, what happens if more than one person is singing? whizzzy
The best way of using the harmoniser in a live situation is to come out the desk on one of the post fade aux outputs into the line-in on the Vocalist VR. Then back out of the Vocalist VR into the stereo returns on the desk. Pretty much the same way as you would connect a reverb unit to a desk. Connecting it this way you can then control which mic channel is fed into the Vocalist via the aux levels on the desk. In practical use it sounds better to limit the feed into the Vocalist VR from just one singer otherwise putting several singers through the harmoniser can get a bit OTT. This can be controlled by turning down the respective aux level on each of the mixer channels. Its not possible to connect a mic to the front XLR and also to the line in because as soon as the line-in is connected it switches off the connection on the front panel. If you are using a mixing desk I can't think of a reason why you would want to connect to both inputs at the same time anyhow. If you're stuck for a copy of the manual I could scan the relevant pages for you but to scan the whole lot would make the file size quite big.
