Simple Hipshot Machine Head question

I am thinking of changing the tuners on my Sire to Hipshot Ultralight but see they come in two different sizes: 1/2" and 3/8".

Is the size I need the one closest to the hole size drilled in the head? Never done this before and this would seem logical but am concerned it may a trick description.

Pretty sure you need a 3/8" one - mainly based on quite a few posts on the American site in the Sire club saying they bought the 1/2" ones by mistake :-)

The sizes given (3/8" and 1/2") are the shaft sizes, not the hole sizes.

So the 3/8" key wants a 9/16" diameter hole, and the 1/2" key wants a 11/16" diameter hole.  What size is the Sire hole?

Thank you. I appreciate the sizes are the shaft size, it was working out which ones I need. I will look at the hole size and go from there.
