Maude
A chance to own one bass instead of two? Get a grip man! 😉
yorks5stringer
5000 euros for a fretless and fretted bass together. I'd get one but I don't think it would fit my bass stand.....shame.
Sibob
Literally no-one has asked for this! Good luck to them, I respect anyone who can make an instrument, but I wouldn’t part with £200 for one, let alone £6k Si
Cosmo Valdemar
Excuse my ignorance, but why do the necks rotate?
Doctor J
I admire the execution but I have never needed to switch from fretless to fretted, and vice versa, in such time as to justify paying 5 grand for it. It reminds me a little of the Born To Rock guitar Piggy played before his untimely demise.
SICbass
Why?
akabane
I find all exploration interesting in terms of instruments. However I am wondering why they went like that at it - I can see so many practical issues with this thing. I mean - if I were to do a 'multi' anything bass I'd try to do a bass version of Metheny's Picasso guitar, so it would be a multi scale, multi necks things that would have many more strings and tonal possibilities - if I have to have an unwieldly and uncomfortable instrument to play, I better be able to get out incredible sounds out of it. Just a 'fret' and 'fretless'? Not convinced. I do appreciate the reverse necks for different tuning possibilities and approaches. I don't think anybody is calling them up ordering those things. I see it as one of those 'proof of concept' instruments that eventually will die off or evolve into something actually practical - so I see no problem anywhere! At least the Born To Rock guitars and basses had useful function (eliminating the need for a truss rod) behind their design.

SICbass
And then, of course, there’ll be the whole patenting debacle with those good ol’boys over at ZZ Top. Nightmare!

Dan Dare
Another company aiming for the wealthy dilettante market. That money would buy you a pair of very nice fretted and fretless instruments. How hard can it be to swap over between numbers?

binky_bass
So utterly pointless!! I reckon I could put down a fretted and pick up a fretless in the same time it would take rotate that monstrosity.
oldslapper
Why over complicate the concept?
EMG456
I like it... but then again I would! Would I buy it however? No. For genuine speed of swapping between fretted/fretless in a compact package, a headless, bodyless "plain" doubleneck would be quicker and in the long term probably, more robust.
