la bam
Hi all, Since going wireless last year, I doubt I'll ever go back to using a cable unless I have to. I use a line6 g70 and love it. However it means it has to be on top of something and be unobstructed all around it (ie not rack mounted). I'd like to build a rack system again, so ive looked at the equivalent (ish) rack mount wireless system and they're x3 more expensive. Is there any reason why? Even second hand systems are coming in much more expensive than a new single unit.
mike257
A lot of lower end consumer models aren't built for rack mounting because most of their target market won't be looking to cart a rack around. All professional standard radio kit is built for rack mounting because 90% of the time, that's how it will be used. Second hand Sennheiser G3 kit is available for good prices these days. I wouldn't go for anything less than that. Huge step up in quality from the likes of Line 6.
taunton-hobbit
Most kit can be adapted for rack mounting, not always easy, but it can usually be done. 😎
la bam
The issue with the g70 is that the receiver is a flat panel on the top of the unit, so rack mounting it (or racking over it) compromises its effectiveness.
