I dint vote as I am in Australia but we mainly used pickguard

It was scratchplate but more recently the Americanisation of our language means pickguard is now the default. I went through a phase about 15yrs ago of buying dozens and recall the change happening around that era.

Weird. I voted, entirely confident it would show me 90/10 in favour of scratchplate.

A long time ago  it was always known as a scratchplate but it seems to be  more commonly known as a pickguard now,

My mate calls them “scratch guards”. Makes me feel sick.

My wife also calls the glove compartment of a car The drop down.

Also makes me feel sick.

And when Chocolate is shortened to Choc.

You need to have a word Andy. Unless you keep lots of menus in your glove compartment, ‘drop down’ is not a suitable nomenclature. Pretty sure ‘scratch guard’ is a thing, just not what your mate is referring to. Choc? Yep, that’s just wrong 😂

EDIT: I think ‘Choccy’ is acceptable though?

I don't call them, I throw them. Being Belgian, I won't vote as in French, we call it Pickguard, but for most of the French people it's Pigardeuhhhhhhhhh... Go figure out.

No, nothing that ends with a y, like chocky or biky or something like that. Unless you are 5, then it is ok.

Still, nothing is as bad as people in the last 5 years using the term Glasto for glastonbury. That is punchable.
