Reggaebass
Hi peeps, I’ve seen this in a charity shop window, I don’t know much about Gretsch basses but it looks fun, any idea what it would be worth paying, or what they are worth, thanks 🙂
hooky_lowdown
Looks like a 2202 with single pup and some gold paint. Probably £150-180.
Paul S
Looks like a messed up Junior Jet single pickup model with shonky binding effect paint and equally shonky tug bar. I'd pay £120 for it, maybe less.
Dad3353
It's a good short-scale, lightweight bass that does what it does very well. Offer them £50, let yourself get beaten up to £80 and get yourself a bargain. Edited July 9, 2020 by Dad3353
Reggaebass
Thanks very much,👍. it looked quite old but I’ve just seen they still make them
Maude
Play them a tune on it badly and explain that the notes are all in the wrong places. Should get you a decent discount.

Maude
Hopefully it's nice and cheap. Looks like a fun little bass. 👍
Reggaebass
Quick update on this, the charity shop wouldn’t sell it to me they said it would only be listed on eBay, strange for a charity shop but whatever, anyway it’s now on eBay , I’ve been outbid and the bidding is up to £180 , is it worth it https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/264890284682
Bleat
Personally no I wouldn't bother with it at that price with those "modifications". However I would be prepared to pay that if it was unmolested, mint and original . The Junior Jets are incredibly good basses though!

I traded it because I almost exclusively play 6 string now. But they're absolutely superb. Brilliant build quality and sound like thunder. Far, far better than the price would lead you to believe.

Maude
At least Dave sounds like he knows his stuff. 👌 DAVE SAYS: "THIS IS A CUSTOM PAINTED BASS GUITAR: THE SOLID WOOD BODY IS IN GOOD CONDITION PAINTWORK AND DECAL ON FRONT ARE NEAT, MINOR NICKS ONLY WORKS FINE! NO ISSUES! WOOD BIT ADDED TO FRONT, DON'T KNOW WHY" 1

It still gives me a pang of guilt that I once got a perfectly good Squier MB1 P/J bass in a Crack Converters down from £100 to £50 as I demonstrated to the staff that one of the volume knobs wasn’t working. Turns out (after I got it home) that it was the pan / blend control, I hadn’t had a bass with one before......

Maude
If Dave had reported that, "It sustains for dayzz!", then I'd be buying it. Oh yeah, and a foam mute of course.
Bleat
Thanks to the REAL knowledgeable pro's on this forum and their advice, I am now happily sat here with my bass smothered in Lurpak playing Painkiller by Judas Priest... I love the way that I can also hold that one note at the end lasts for a week.
fleabag
I find butter under hot stage lights kinda makes my digits career off the fingerboard
