bassace
I saw this pic online this morning out of Vanity Fair magazine. It’s of Her Maj looking at a part of the Royal Collection. I wonder what that DB is doing there? It looks as though there’s a lead coming from it. So does she do a bit of slap of an evening? Is it solid or laminate? What pickup/strings does she use? As loyal subjects we should be told.
Happy Jack
It's only used when she wants a classical musician to play Get Bach or Hard To Handel. You want more? I've got a Liszt ...
BigRedX
What lead? Where? I think it's the reflection in the Timpani in front of it.

Well you’re just a spoilsport. And you’ll be telling me it isn’t a bass next. I’ve just noticed the thought bubble coming from her head. Jean-Luc Pickguard
I think its a dummy bass with a hatch at the back; the second son hides in it whenever there's a knock at the door.

NickA
It's ..... a basse de violon what once belonged to Dragonetti. Sort of super sized cello precursor, tuned in fifths but quite a long scale. https://www.rct.uk/collection/themes/trails/music-in-the-royal-collection Edited July 15, 2020 by NickA
