jonsmith
Looking at the period you're hoping to cover, MR probably played almost as much 12 string as he did bass back then. Perhaps not too much of a challenge if you play guitar anyway, but in many places you'll have some bass pedal parts to play at the same time, although on the whole these are fairly straightforward. MR used to use a lot of different tunings on the 12 string, often changing tuning from song to song (hence Gabriel's stories developing between songs). I really like his basslines. While not as 'in your face' as the likes of Squire or Lee, most of them are reasonably inventive and serve the song well. 4000
Sounds like a great gig to me. I don't if my memory would be up to some of the stuff though!

If i can do my homework and nail the basslines etc then we should be fine, The guitarist & Drummer are outstanding? They are still looking for keys, Lead vocals & perhaps a second drummer! Should give me a month or so to take it all in? Thanks again Justin.
doctor_of_the_bass
You'll need some Taurus bass pedals to get the really authentic Rutherford bass sound Ricky for the faster melodic high end parts and the pedals for a great big hefty drone sitting underneath everything. A really core part of the early Genesis sound.
Absolutely! My set of Taurus pedals is in need of a rebuild really but I used to use them a lot in my old band - we used to crank them up through the PA (big JBL rig, 10K) and I used to be able to rearrange furniture...they are just incredible. I use a set of Roland PK-5 midi pedals hooked up with an Oberheim or Yamaha sound module - no match for the Moog though.
