JapanAxe
Although there's a huge industry around stomp boxes, does anyone prefer the effects that are built into their amp? I had a TC Classic a while back and I really liked the compression and drive effects. Obviously there's now all the Toneprint options, plus quite a few heads with compression or limiting, not to mention chorus on some of the old Peaveys. So what say you Basschatters, do these onboard jobbies pass muster, or has it got to be a little box on the floor?

It’s badass - not Cheap and no longer produced due to the price and success of the DP3X pedal, but if you get the chance, it’s a powerhouse
Drax
Sessionette100 4x10 back in the early 90's, really great onboard compressor.. got me sounding less terrible through lots of slap gigs..

I forgot they existed! I had a Sessionette guitar combo, sounded brilliant if you combined the clean and dirty channels.
dave_bass5
I love the drive feature on my Fender Rumble 800HD head. Its quite warm and organic. Ive got a Stomp so loads of effects on tap, but still prefer the dirt tone this head gives me over anything in the Stomp. At least for low level drive stuff. Stingray64
I think a lot of it is that controls on the amp tend to be very broad and therefore in a sense more musical, at least more flexibility while staying musical. Where as stomp boxes often target a specific sound or frequency, which can be very helpful when you add the ability to switch on and off (even more so when you have a helix like me and can switch to different settings instead of just off). But ye I agree for the most part I stick to amp or preamp pedal eq.
