stewblack Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 Can we learn from a guitarist? Hell yeah. Especially when it's a rhythm guitarist, and especially when it's Cory Wong. The thing that leapt out at me is that Cory isn't a 'born genius'. He is as good as he is because he works. Hard Every day. And not just mindlessly repeating shapes. He mixes musicality into his warm ups. All of this works for us on bass too. Check it out. 2 1 Quote
gregouille23 Posted August 3, 2020 Posted August 3, 2020 When the guitarist is as funky as Cory Wong, SURE WE CAN!!! 😁 I actually stumbled on this video a couple of weeks ago and decided to really focus on chords, inversions and arpeggio practices. It takes time at the beginning but I already see tremendous improvement in navigating the fretboard. Viva la Vulf! 😎 I also love the exercise from Mark over at TalkingBass: https://www.talkingbass.net/awesome-music-theory-bass/ 1 Quote
