Geoff
My band got reviewed in the latest Metal Hammer for a gig we did supporting Wolves In The Throne Room, which was all good. I say review though, it was one line saying "from now on Middenhelm will be known as fair to Middlehelm". In some ways i wouldve preffered a more comprehensive review saying we were utter rubbish haha I guess we werent Black Metal enough for most of the people there So, has anyone else had funny/rather meaningless reviews of thier bands done? OldGit
Yeah The guy who runs Bristol Rocks came along to one of our charity rock barn dances, didn't dance and wrote a Curate's Egg of a review of Jellied Reels ... I was tempted to use this quote n our publicity "It was like hopping into a TV set from Midsommer Murders, although disappointingly... there was no murder. lozbass
Melody Maker (about 1979) - 'tragically apalling'. Not entirely meaningless: in fact, fairly direct

Adrenochrome
From when my old Garage Rock band played Joseph's Well: "not Glam enough to be Glam ... and not punk enough to be punk, but its somewhere in between"
Ou7shined
I just googled one of my bands and found this. We come out of it ok but the beer comes off better. Neepheid did your Mrs write this by any chance?

Heh, I remember that night - wasn't long after our wedding and you guys gave us a shout out before "Red Mosquito"
BigBeefChief
We've never been reviewed unfortunately, although I'd be keen to read one. The closest we've had is Dave Berry (yes kids, THE Dave Berry!) desribe one of our tracks as the "best song I've played" on his mysapce radio show. We're hardly setting the world alight! Twigman
We've been reviewed umpteen times over the years but I recently found this after the re-release of our first album last month: http://www.threeimaginarygirls.com/recordr...epicgardenmusic which is one helluva good review. My favourite bit:
The following track, “Clocktower Lodge,” is slower and more atmospheric, recalling some kind of damp and foggy winter day. Despite this, the bass continues to chug along and drives the song down the dimly lit, soggy motorway.
WTF? That would be a read and a half.
MythSte
one of the reviews in my old band started "OHMYGODTHERESTOOMUCHAHPPENINGTHEREGOESMYBRAIN" //meh!
Musky
I had a single reviewed in NME once which consisted almost entirely of a review of the cover (which was given over to a short story describing, amongst other things, a woman's activities with an eel ). What did they say about the band? "They sound like the eel"
ardi100
Just did a google search and found this http://www.egigs.co.uk/index.php?a=12220 Capelilos, the first support act, take the duration of a couple of songs to get into their stride, after which they spice the three-piece band up by bringing on four "lab assistants" in white coats who provide trumpet, sax and violins. They're more of an interesting prospect now and the crowd responds warmly to the funkier "break for the border" Calexico-like vibe going on. It's a very energetic set, with the highlight being 'Bow Wow' which nicks its first line from the Cure's 'The Lovecats' – "we move like cagey tigers, we couldn't get closer than this". And the photo? Now, who ever runs a photo of only the bass player?
Old Horse Murphy
Not so much a review; more of a celebrity endorsement. At the last gig we played in Ealing, my mate spotted Geoff "Poison" Pearce from London's Burning at the bar. Geoff's mate walked in and said "What are the band like?" Geoff said "Not bad actually" It's going in to our next Promo pack

tauzero
I'll have to dig a few reviews out, but I do remember that one in (IIRC) "Making Music" said that one track would benefit from using a fretless bass. Which I entirely agreed with, as I'd recorded the track using a fretless bass.
