MM Stingray 62 Posted July 29, 2020 Posted July 29, 2020 Hi if anyone is looking for a Bravewood jazz bass check out his website John's just put this up for sale. Ā 1 Quote
therealting Posted July 29, 2020 Posted July 29, 2020 If I didnāt already know that Iām not really a Jazz person, Iād be all over that like checking on nitro lacquer. Johnās builds are just aboutĀ the closest thing you can get to an actual pre-CBS Fender withĀ consistent build quality.Ā 1 Quote

MM Stingray 62 Posted July 29, 2020 Author Posted July 29, 2020 (edited) I would of had it myself If I didn't Ā already have one that's very similar fromĀ John aĀ Ā fantastic bass. Ā Edited July 30, 2020 by marleaux62 3 Quote
GuyR Posted July 29, 2020 Posted July 29, 2020 This has been online for a few days. Amazed it hasn't gone. It's too similar to my Oly White 62 or it would be in my hands by now. 1 Quote

Old Horse Murphy Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 Jeez, the price.Ā Imagine how much he'd charge for one in good condition... 5 Quote

ebenezer Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 Had it been sunburst i would have taken the plunge!!......some relic guitars are quite frankly laughable but john's work, to me is stunning, equaling if not surpassing fender custom shop.Ā 3 Quote

Feel wise it is indistinguishable from the incredibleĀ genuine C neck on my 64. 1 Quote

If John still took orders I'd consider one with a roasted body - just to try to keep overall weight down. Quote
MM Stingray 62 Posted July 30, 2020 Author Posted July 30, 2020 One of my Bravewood jazz basses has a roasted neck John built it for himself. It's got Radioshop pickups in it the bass sounds absolutely killer. 5 Quote

Thanks Guy. Having owned a fair few originsĀ 50s & 60s & custom shops Iām very much looking forward to this one. EspeciallyĀ as the vintage ones are out of my price now and the CS ones, as great as they can be, donāt feel quite so special to me anymore - and are also way tooĀ blooming expensive now!Ā Always had a soft spot for an ash bodied Jazz with aĀ blonde finish - sealed the deal.Ā 1 Quote

You are well qualified to give your opinion, so don't forget your NBD post. New CS are the same price as a decent refin original bought privately,Ā soĀ no contest for me. I have a Bravewood Strat still and although I have just bought a lovely '65, the Bravewood is going nowhere. Ā 2 Quote
