Jonski
Hi, My son is new to bass and we are looking for a way for him to play music from his phone through same headphones that he plugs into his amp currently to hear his bass. His amp only has one input so can’t do it that way. I found a product called iRig which is maybe the answer, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thank you! barkin
Zoom B1-on multi-fx, or similar. As well as an aux input you get effects, tuner, drum machine etc... Edited July 29, 2020 by barkin
AndyTravis
I have a line 6 sonic port which I’m not using. That would work - When ios12 came outside it stopped working, so I bought an apogee jam but when they did ios13 it worked again so it’s sat in a cupboard 🤷🏻♂️
hiram.k.hackenbacker
Phil Jones Big Head. I have the Bass Buddy, which I don't think they do any more. The Big Head replaced it. Good kit.

dannybuoy
Budget option if the amp has an XLR out is a Behringer MA400. Great bit of kit, a simple XLR + aux input + headphone amp for not much dough. There are plenty of iOS interfaces like the iRig and Sonic Port, they’l also let you run amp sims and effects on the iDevice too. The cheap Zoom multis combine everything you would need including amps, fx, tuner, looper etc. The Bighead beats them all for clean pristine sound quality though, and is capable of driving higher impedance headphones that the iOS and Zoom devices struggle to push enough volume into.
ribbetingfrog
Black star fly is a wonderfully simple and cheap option. Great little amp that runs on AA batteries with an aux in and headphone out. they even do a Bluetooth option. i use the guitar one for bass but there is a bass specific one. Reggaebass
Hi jonski and welcome, the Yamaha session cake will do exactly what you want, and it runs on batteries, just plug your phone , bass and headphones in and play, I’ve got one for silent practice whilst just sitting on the sofa, it’s got a nice sound too 🙂
Cuzzie
The iRig you mention will also work
Drax
No bad options above. Fan of red Sessioncake here, practical and straightforward. Phil Jones Bighead is fantastic kit but probably costs more than the bass.

Can be had for £29 (or maybe less) - link below has them in stock now for that price which is an absolute bargain as they often retail for more than double that. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-Mixing-Headphone-Amplifier-SESSIONCAKE-SC-01-Guitar-Bass-Aux-Mixing-/153852478668
fretmeister
The Sonic Port is great. Can then also download the free app for Amplitube. That will let him access his iTunes library and use Amplitube for a good bass sound.... and slow down the track without changing pitch for practising tricky bits. It's excellent. Skybone
Anything with an Aux port really. I think that the best solution would be something like the Zoom B1 Four. Plenty of options for amp sims, plenty of effects, aux input to plug in an iPhone or other audio source, and a headphone out. Reasonably priced too. https://www.gak.co.uk/en/zoom-b1-four-bass-multi-effects-pedal/924373 https://www.andertons.co.uk/bass-dept/bass-guitar-pedals/bass-multi-effects/zoom-b1-four-bass-multi-fx-pedal https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/190828347808008--zoom-b1-four
