SurroundedByManatees Posted Tuesday at 11:01 Posted Tuesday at 11:01 Anybody has an idea what these square punch markings are? They seem common on instruments from 1962-1965 from what I see. They don't have a fixed position. Maybe it could be left by some tool for painting or routing.. Quote
dodgnofski Posted Tuesday at 11:25 Posted Tuesday at 11:25 (edited) I always thought it was the nail hole used when spraying seen on early Basses before they switched to using the ‘strip’? Edited Tuesday at 11:31 by dodgnofski Quote

Steve Browning Posted Tuesday at 11:31 Posted Tuesday at 11:31 (edited) I went to the Boston website and looked for the UK distributor. Luckily I am a Rotosound endorsee and ordered them via my artist relations chap. Possibly any Rotosound seller can probably order one for you. Edited Tuesday at 11:32 by Steve Browning 1 Quote

Like the tort is zoomed out, if that makes sense. 1 Quote

SurroundedByManatees Posted Thursday at 14:45 Posted Thursday at 14:45 NBD: Refin '65 Jazz. It's an awesome playing and sounding instrument. It has the most beautiful tort pickguard. It still has a brazilian rosewood fretboard, but pearl dots. The pots date to week 12 of 1965. It appears to be all original, except for a refinish and the screws that hold down the pickup covers (not pictured). Added nerd pictures that show how thoroughly the finish is stripped. There is no single sign to find of the previous (sunburst probably) finish that it started with. Or it started out as a blonde finish, which seems unlikely. In one of the pictures you see the round routermark on the back, which is also present near the back strapbutton. The square marking in the neckpocket is also a sign of authenticity. It's a pretty light bass too, that was an important feature on the checklist. 10 Quote
