Looking back I just went at a cursory glance, I think the last number is actually 68 rather than 66. I guess it was kicking round in the factory for a while!

Probably back in the day with no internet and the nearest music shop was in a city a few hundred miles away so if you wanted something you had to make it. Sadly not everyone is good at woodwork!

Definitely a trough, you can see the internal corner and the cut edge of the p/g. Given that only about half would be visible under a complete p/g and that it’s already somewhat battered elsewhere, a colour matched, fill block wouldn’t be a total necessity.
