Crikey - just seen the trough

still do-able tho

This cropped up on my YT feed and the excavated P above sprang to mind. I didn’t post for fear of feeding certain BCer’s GAS (you know who you are ;)).

Looks like it could be a bit of a bargain here, not original pickups but doesn’t look bad , if the rest is original

If I lived anywhere near *checks notes* Saffron Walden and liked maple P's, I'd be all over that like green on beans.

I didn’t really want a maple board but I might go and have a play  if it’s still around the weekend

No shortage of strap buttons on that one...

Yeah, most strange, all I can think of is he’s fitted strap locks and screwed the others to the body

Well, it says 'all original hardware', so I guessing the summer of love had an impact within the fender factory!

TI Flats too! That should sound sweet. Some of that wear doesn't quite look like it was incurred "naturally" - I could be wrong.

Yeah I thought that, I’m not sure how you would wear the body above the knobs that much

Could it be playing with your thumb by the bridge with fingers resting on the body between the G and the controls?

That’s definitely a possibility

That’s sort of how sting plays isn’t it?

saw a cool post on Facebook somewhere which showed the progressive wear on his 50’s P from the mid 90’s to 2021

I’ve never played one, they do look cool

It was…

It moved to a member on here and was moved on again, lost track of it after that.

I kept it with the pickguard on but it had all the sting marks underneath…

I know there’s many  people on here that have a great  knowledge of vintage fenders, it’s a big interest of mine, and Inspired by a few other threads where various questions have been asked about things like, serial numbers, bridges, cases, pots, pickups , wiring , tuners etc , some great answers and information came back . so I thought this would be a good place to share it.

Also if you have a vintage fender please show us 🙂

What age defines 'vintage'? I'm guessing '86 doesn't count?
