Pretty sure natural finish was an option in the early 70s, I think it was in the 72 catalog so it could be the original finish, but €12 k is way steep

Not the right wear for a factory finish, there’s normally more gloss. I expect the clue is in the neck pocket or under the s/p

I can’t tell from that picture posted, I haven’t looked it up though

Yep, yet more jumping onto the 'vintage, so it must be worth a million' bubble. I must get my 1982 Austin Allegro out of the garage. It has an eight-track fitted -'best sound ever'! It has to be worth at least £500,000. 😎

Would this aforesaid Austin Allegro be the ultra-rare light brown or sand colour? If so, I'd double your estimate...

That bass has definitely been stripped. You did see natural finish Fenders around 1972 but as far as I'm aware they all had ash bodies (this one is clearly alder) and white pickguards.

If an advertisement begins with 'If you know, you know..' or some such variant thereof, it's a clear signal that the price of said item has been vastly elevated beyond its real worth.

It was indeed 'sand'. OK, £900,000 and it's yours.

Gosh, what a deal, let me see if I can sell one of the children on. Hate to miss this opportunity...

Can I check if it's a refin?

Currently for sale here in NL. 12K? Really?!IMG_8878.thumb.jpeg.b2e9ffe66aa08fc7b44c1b72977187ac.jpegIMG_8879.thumb.jpeg.38fe4ed38deeecfcfdcb7c5e838ce138.jpeg

Well, after my 40K offer, an interesting little conversation happened:

"Hi Hidde, I guess you accidentally overpriced. Best, [seller]"

"Hi [seller], I guess you accidentally overpriced too. Best, Hidde"

"Yeah might be Best, [seller]"

And that was it. Bass is still for sale, price is the same. So if anyone wants an accidentally overpriced 1972 Jazz, go for it.

Yes unfortunately, it used to be sunburst with a tortoise steering wheel. The tortoise passed away around 1997 I'm afraid, but it should be an easy fix.

Jonny Smith from 'The Late Brake Show' will make a 'Barn Find' episode on YouTube with you and your Allegro!

This would be a perfect match to my 76 (pre CBS) sand Morris Marina.

The Precision and Jazz of the motoring world.

This is sounding more and more like an episode of the "Smith and Sniff" Podcast.

I can only comment with one word... "SPOWAATAAH!" (Trans. "Sport" in a fake Essex accent.)
