mowf Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 Saw this one on Reverb recently: https://reverb.com/uk/item/61758270-vintage-fender-jazz-bass-with-rosewood-fretboard-1972-sunburst It always bugs me when they say it's "all original" and then "apart from..." In this case pick ups, bridge, missing scratchplate... 1 Quote

So I ditched that preconception. 1 Quote
Beetlesteve Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 Hey! Reggaebass sent me in this direction for the advice of the experts! Any clue on if this is a genuine 77/78 ashtray? The non original screws made me think it might not be, but I'm hoping it is! 1 Quote
Piers_Williamson Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 Here's a 77 Ashtray, albeit on a lefty. This looks the same bar the screws 2 Quote

It's not too bad, I've certainly had noisier basses. That said, I'd definitely avoid strip lights and dimmer switches! Quote

If I touch the lead as it enters the input it kills the hum, so Im earthing it but I cant play and hold it at the same time 😂 1 Quote

A bit of soldering and it was absolutely fine Quote
