Their frog model could probably be done in a single pickup configuration - even headless if you wanted. https://www.public-peace.de/maruszczyk-instruments/mi-bass/frog I was thinking this (or a second hand one), not sure if they do neck through though? These are nice for budget basses though, made by Cort in Korea around 1980-ish - if you look closely you'll see it has the same triple-dot brass inlays as the Lotus I posted earlier, which is a nice touch. I had one of these a few years back, unfortunately it had a somewhat twisted neck. Other than that it was a nicely made bass, on a par with much of the Japanese stuff from the same era. If the OP was up for a project, modifying one of these for a single pickup migh be fun.
Bassassin
@Franchement - have you seen this? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-1980-OHagan-Nightwatch-Special-Sunburst-Thru-Neck-USA-Bass-Guitar-OHSC/124297319396 A bit dearer than most suggestions - but I think it's stunning!
Bolo
B.C. Rich USA has many neck-through single pickup natural finish basses in non-fender shapes.

The alternative brand they run, Mensinger offers set and through neck. The Pike Monolith for example https://www.mensingerguitars.com/en/mensinger/basses/pike-monolith
Franchement
Hi everybody You have all contributed well to compiling a nice list of bass with the desired profile, thank you ! After a good reflection I choose my future fiancee Ibanez Musician MC 800 NT ! Quite rare, I know. I already find one in France for 600€ (discussing for the moment with the guy). Does anyone have one in a closet ?

Franchement
Hey everybody ! Look at what I just bought : I got it for 600 Euros. It's really big compare to my Warwick Streamer Stage 1 but I will get used to it. I'm gonna completely renovate it (sanding, oiling ...) and I will show you the result. Thank you all for this brainstorming which allowed me to choose this bass !!!

Franchement
I crawled the net and just found 3 ads. One in Usa, one in Australia, and this one in Paris. I'm a bit lucky
Franchement
Completely sanded ! It was very hard, the varnish was tough ! Now I'm gonna take the step 'Danish oil'... To be continued
PaulThePlug
Nice Prep... Going 'Plain / Clear' or 'Stain'? A recent refinish post speaks of 'Crimson Guitar Oil'... Maybe worth checking out... Edited September 24, 2020 by PaulThePlug
LeftyJ
As a vintage Ibanez fan, this hurts my feelings a little bit. This is a very rare bass that's hard to come by in original condition. The 24 fret models from 1981 and later are far more common, and especially the single-pickup models don't pop up often. An all-original MC800 from 1979 is pretty special.
Bassassin
Agreed. Not sure why you'd do that. Logo & serial number gone too. This sort of thing is unfortunately why there are so few left, and even fewer in good original condition. Shame.
Franchement
@PaulThePlug : I'm going on a natural oiled finish - I will show you. @LeftyJ and @Bassassin : I can understand your point of view. Personally I do not attach importance to the brand, the rarity or other sign of fame. What interests me is the quality of the violin, the design and above all, the sound. This is an exceptional bass and, in my opinion, it will be even more so without its yellow varnish full of hits which does not allow the woods to vibrate fully. I'm going to give it 6 or 7 coats of Danish Oil, I just think it's to respect the woods and its design. The serial number is still visible. The logo ? I don't care. I will show you the final result.

Personally I understand why you striped it, but I kinda wish you were doing something more than just danish oil... in a few years that too will have yellowed and it will look similar to how it did before.... colour stain, or @Andyjr1515 used Osmo oil that kept the raw colour of the wood on a bass he built for the Greek.
Franchement
@LukeFRC I talked to my luthier who advised me the Danish. I saw old realisations and that's look great. In addition, it is very easy to sand again in 10 years and then to re-oil.
Franchement
And There you go ! After a hard work, a long journey to the luthier (fret planning and full adjustment), she's back ! See how oil brings out, much better than varnish, all the colors of the different woods ! She's beautiful and she sounds great Thanks again for all your advice !!
