fretmeister
It appears that one night when I was a bit piddled and on Amazon I bought some DR Sunbeams. I just found out when I got the dispatch notification. Are they any good?
invertigo
I tend to bounce between them and Hi-Beams on my Jazz. The SBs have a bit more mids and an overall warmer tone, but still plenty of that top end bite. Play pretty much the same as they're round core too, nickel feels a bit slicker than steel. That's about it really!
fretmeister
As far as I know they will be the first set of roundcore I've ever had. My J (sandberg) has Dunlop flats on it at the moment. I like them very much but as the Sunbeams are on the way I'll just have to take the flats off carefully and store them.
hooky_lowdown
Sunbeams are pretty smooth feeling roundwounds, one of the smoothest I'd say, so you may like them as they're as close to flats (feel-wise) as you'll get from roundwounds.
Muppet
They're my string of choice - I love 'em! Works really well with my Precisions.

EBS_freak
DRs - since trying my first set, I've now found my home brand. Never felt compelled to move since.

fretmeister
They are now installed on my Sandberg. Seem to be very high output compared to the flats I had on there. Quite smooth feeling for rounds. Bit bright at the moment but give it a week and they'll calm down. I think I like them. Just a shame I cant try them with a band at the moment. Yeah I have them on a couple of P basses. I love them, settle down nicely too and just sound great.

That's quite subliminal... you are telling me I need more than 1 P bass? I'll let the wife know!

el borracho
A few years ago I was talking in the pub to someone about maybe getting a 5 string sometime. Got home, looked on ebay & there was 3 finishing within half an hour. What could go wrong?? I was outbid on the Stingray & the Roscoe Beck but won the G&L. I've still got it. On another occasion I bought a Tokai Hard Puncher but we don't talk about that 😁
