Volume pot crackle

Anybody shed any light on why my volume knobs began to crackle BUT stops when i have my hands on strings, earthing issue ? Bass is Spector LE 77..cheers for any info

Crackling of any sort would indicate a loose connection or dry solder joint, the fact that it disappears when you touch the strings suggests that you’ve also got a shielding problem.
