He probably got it when they first came out and paid over the odds. They were well over £1k here when first introduced and I think I'm right in saying that MB has recently changed importers to the UK. As you suggest, he's going to be lucky to get what he's asking.

Yes. I do feel sorry for people caught out in this way but that's the reality. I want a d800+ but at a realistic price against what their value is now.

Thats not uncommon in a lot of adverts, where someone is working out a percentage based on what they paid rather than the current value. What you paid becomes irrelevant as soon as you buy it!
