Abominathan Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 (edited) Moving abroad and reluctantly selling this Kramer 450B fretless bass. In good condiction - knobs are not original but a very tasteful replacement. There is actually a spare orginal pot in case which I held onto. All in good working order. Has a few very minor dings unerneath the pots, which are hardly noticable. Small crack on the neck pickup surround - these are notoriously fragile (but has held up for years). I have the original hardcase, which is also in remarkably good condition. SOLD. Seial number 22025 - Made in USA Would prefer local collection (south East London - Forest Hill Area) but could courier. In terms of specs - probably best to look here: http://www.vintagekramer.com/alum.htm Some photos below and more photos here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/uvbef4nFVihXv4Lo8 Edited November 9, 2020 by Abominathan clarity 2
wombatboter Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 Didn't Mick Karn use one of these before the turned to Wal ?
Abominathan Posted September 12, 2020 Author Posted September 12, 2020 Think that might have been a Travis Bean? Very similar, and although Bean came first this design (the first Kramers) were made by a guy that was a partner in Travis Bean I think?? 1
Hellzero Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 Mick Karn used a way much more heavier Travis Bean. 😉 1 1
wombatboter Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 I could be wrong but I remember reading in his autobiography that the neck of a Kramer even felt hot during a session and that someone suggested to try out a Wal...Could me my memory which fails me.

It was a problem of tuning stability with the Travis Bean that led their roadie go by Wal that was just near the studio and borrow a bass that Mick Karn immediately adopted. It's indeed in his autobiography, but where... 1
